Mike will be fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. Mike was the owner of Mike’s Hairstyling in Whitby until he hung up his scissors.

Mike was a musician and played the saxophone. He was a sports fan. He was a diehard Maple Leaf fan and always his grandchildren’s number one fan.

He loved to watch them play their sports. Visitation will be held at the OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West (905-721-1234) on Wednesday March 27th from 3 – 8 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Thursday March 28th at 10:30 a.m. Entombment at Resurrection Cemetery.

It is with great sadness that we announce her death in Oshawa, Wednesday, March 20th, 2024 at the age of 92 years surrounded by family.

Mabel fought a long and very courageous fight against cancer, right until the very end.

Loving wife of James Owen (pre-deceased), for greater than 65 years.

Daughter of the late Earl and Nina Patterson of Lee Valley.

Devoted mother to Robert (Janet) of Toronto, Brian (Wilma) of Port Dover, Dianna of Oshawa, Teresa (Rick) of Oshawa, proud grandmother to Jason, Jennifer and Tiffany (Justin), and Aaron (pre-deceased) and great-grandmother to Remi and Maddie who brought her great joy.

Mabel is survived by her younger brother and kindred spirit, Wally (Sandra) of North Bay and her sister-in-law, Marie McWhitter of Vancouver. She will also be missed by numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great, great nieces and nephews.

Mabel will be remembered for her caring spirit for her neighbours and friends, her amazing talents with her arts and crafts, her fashionista style, her flare for creating awesome gardens and above all else, her unwavering commitment and love for her family.

We would like to take this opportunity to give heartfelt thanks to Dr. Hanna and Marla, Parkwood Pharmacy, Dr. Kopolovic and her team at Durham Region Cancer Care and Dr. Ricciuto and staff at LHO. Your support and care for our mother is greatly appreciated.

In lieu of flowers, Mabel and her family would appreciate donations in her name, to the Cancer Society to continue to find the cure and fight the strong fight against cancer.

As per Mabel’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, April 20th, 2024 at BARNES MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 5295 Thickson Rd. N. Whitby.

She left this world after extended health battles on March 14, 2024 at age 75 surrounded by close family and friends.

She was born to George and Anne Flood on August 11, 1948 in Grand Falls, NFLD.

Mary moved to Toronto at the young age of 19, where she met her first husband, William Kelly.

Together, they had 3 children: Rob, Kim, and Billy.

Mary loved spending time in the kitchen, creating delicious meals for her family.

She was an exceptional hard worker at various retail positions throughout the years. When not cooking or working, she was busy cleaning, ensuring a spotless home always.

Mary’s first joys were her siblings and her children, but recent years grandchildren and great grandchildren overflowed her heart.

She was extremely proud of her family and everyone’s accomplishments large and small. Mary leaves to mourn husband Robert Ward, with fond and loving memories her son Rob, daughter Kim (Greg), former daughter in law Jenn (Dave), former daughter in law Brenda (Ryan), grandchildren Eden, Sarah, Matthew, Mogi and great grandchildren Chase, Riggs, and Shya.

Mary leaves behind sisters Carmel, Brenda, Linda, & Shirley; brother Alphonsus (Butch). She held special friend Judy Bolt close to her heart as well as the entire Kelly family.

Mary was predeceased by her parents George & Anne Flood; son William (Billy), great grandson Hawk, sisters Doreen, Betty, Margaret, Barb, Gloria and Helen.

Our beloved Aunt, Madeline Elizabeth Simmonds passed away peacefully on March 17, 2024 at the age of 93.

Born on June 16, 1930, Madeline is predeceased by her parents, Arthur Claude Simmonds and Ada May Simmonds (nee Shobrook), her brothers Herbert Simmonds, Claude Simmonds, David Simmonds and her sisters Gladys Smith, Dorothy Eberlin and Mary Sturgess.

She is survived by her sister-in-law Barbara Simmonds and a large extended family including many nieces, nephews and their spouses.

Madeline loved her extended family and enjoyed keeping everyone updated on family activities. She will be truly missed.

Madeline was a secretary throughout her career and worked in several offices across corporate and charitable organizations.

In her last 8 working years, she served in the Presbyterian Church national office.

Active throughout her adult life as a member at Immanuel Baptist Church she served in various capacities.

Madeline felt that her chief aim in life was to love and worship God, connect with people who were lonely and offer compassion and support to others.

The family is holding a funeral service to celebrate Madeline’s life on Friday, March 22, 2024 at 12pm at the Low &Low Uxbridge Chapel, Uxbridge Ontario. Visitation with the family will begin at 11am, immediately prior to the service at the chapel. Interment will be at a later date.

The family wishes to send a special thank-you to the staff at the Ina Grafton Gage Home in Scarborough for their loving care and compassion.

Her three great-grandsons will miss Nanny very much.

They are Jacob Martin David Robinson, Nathan Douglas James Brown and Nolan Warner Brown.

Bernice will be missed greatly by many cousins and close friends she has made since living in Oshawa.
