It is with the greatest sadness the family of John Logan Sykes shares his passing on March 5, 2021.
John’s pride and joy was his family: Helen, his beloved wife and best friend of almost 66 years, his devoted children Sally (Jim), Steve (Jennifer), Stan (Barb, and late daughter-in-law Shelley), his cherished grandchildren Zach (Sarah), Laura, Brittany (Darren), Nolan, Makayla, Brayden, and Poppa John’s adored great grandson Llewyn.
John loved and was loved by family pets Toby, Czar, Gizmo, Deezel, Oakley, Bailey, Burley, Bear, and Rosie. John was born and raised in Warkworth, Ontario, eldest brother of Stan (Kathleen), Lachlan (Sharon), and the late Robert (Hazel).
John lived a long and productive life, working at General Motors, enjoying summers with Helen and their family at their Hastings cottage, playing many hands of euchre, bid euchre and cribbage, mastering complex jigsaw puzzles and sudokus, and always lending a hand or a tool for repairs, big or small. John / Dad / Poppa was a fun loving person with the most engaging smile.
He will be sadly missed by his extended family and many dear friends.
