Betty Mowry (nee Lawson) of Burketon Station, Ontario, passed away on January 20, 2025, at the age of 76. She was the loving partner to Gary Maher for almost 45 years.
Betty is survived by her daughter Marshelle (Barry Jezegou) and grandchildren Edward and Emily, as well as stepchildren Rodney (Debbie), Jeffery (Amanda), Nicole, and step-grandchildren. She will be missed by her siblings Bert, Nancy (Bruce), Dave (Debbie), and sister-in-law Marie. Betty was predeceased by Donna (George), Bill, Margaret (Eldon), Graham, and brother-in-law George. Betty will also be missed by her extended family, nieces and nephews, along with many friends and neighbors. She was especially close with Dorothy from Pennsylvania.
A special thank you to Ronda and Greg for their generosity over the past few years.
Betty was a proud Nana to Edward and Emily. She embraced all their milestones, took photos, and hung up their drawings. She loved being included in their functions and activities. Betty will be remembered for her love of gardening, Elvis Presley, and the Toronto Blue Jays. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, and crafting.
Betty was adamant about not having a funeral. A Celebration of Life will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on March 15, 2025, at Bowmanville Memorial Park Clubhouse, 120 Liberty Street South, Bowmanville, Ontario.
Donations can be made to Soper Creek Wildlife Rescue, Dreams & Wishes Children Charity Durham, or a charity of your choice.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home, 53 Division Street, Bowmanville.
